Both ama and vaka [main hull] slide easily on their gunwales. No protrusions to catch on the racks.

The cockpit is self bailing thru the daggerboard trunk. Beneath the plywood floor is 12 inches of foam. Ample storage in watertight compartments fore and aft.

Simple cleats secure the trampolines. The cam cleat holders fold down to get out of the way for cartopping or paddling.

 

The ama has a hatch covering a compartment. The akas[ the curved beams that join the 2 hulls] slip into sockets in the ama[ float].

The ama has a self bailing compartment for longer things like paddles, fishing rods, spear guns, etc.

Construction is ¼ inch marine plywood. Chines and gunwales of 1X2 spruce. West system epoxy holds everything together. Almost no screws.

The akas are made of ¼ inch by 5 1/2 inch mahogany and ash laminated together over a simple form until the epoxy kicks.
